About Novus
Aeterno
Novus Aeterno is a full Real Time Strategy (RTS) game
that takes place in a massive and seamless galaxy full of great opportunities
and challenging threats. Players familiar to RTS games will be able
to grasp the controls and layout to get right into the action of Novus
Aeterno.
The story of Novus Aeterno begins within the aftermath of a
catastrophic destruction of the main five empires that had dominated
the galaxy. The Verunas, Azsendi, Acaean, Cauldron Born, and our own
Human civilisations had reached a high point in domination over their
portions of the galaxy. The old empires are now no more and the galaxy
is without any stable authority. The player can now enter the scene
and determine the course of events between the conflict of various factions
and the persistent outcome of further events.

Being true to an
MMORTS, Novus Aeterno will have no match making. Competition between
players and natural threats can happen anywhere within the massive scale
of the galaxy that will be connected by no loading screens. With this
open galaxy players can explore a full galaxy without restraint; through
war and peace you can experience the entire battlefield!
Forming Alliances with other players will allow a group of players to
take on large threats and to take on other Alliances to have large scale
battles between each other within the full open galaxy. These battles
can be Free for all battles as well as team battles; depending on your
choice to ambush, jump into a dog pile of a battle, or dig in to defend
a choke point. Your tactical options will not be limited.
Your Crew
Spaceships are only as good as the sum of their parts; your crew is one such part. Apart from the customization of your avatar, the fleet's commander, your crew can determine how well your ship operates. Changing and interaction with your crew will allow you to create your own fleet that will fit your needs and your vision for a personalized force of space fleets.
The command crew is a critical part of Novus Aeterno; they each can progress along with the player's avatar and be interacted with inside of the capital ship's bridge. Each command crew member is specialized to their role whether it is weapons, engineering, navigation, communications, etc.
The rest of the player's fleet contain crew that can be promoted and developed depending on the player's interest and the ship's actions. A ship that has taken a certain amount of damage can unlock specific veterancy options to improve ship health or defense. Keep in mind that promoting ship crews will increase the ship value, filling up your ship capacity faster.
Your Ships
Novus Aeterno will allow players to design their own ships to create new unit types that can be produced within the game and re-edited after some in-game testing. This process will not be hurdled by having to leave the game to access a ship editor; the in-game editor will always be close by allowing your fleets to become a force of fine-tuned units to be truly feared.
The base of your construction will be centered on a hull that can be outfitted with weapons to become a stronger warship; cargo bays will allow ships to transport; engineering bays improve the repair and maintenance your fleets; and so much more! Every empire has a unique variety of ship bases for you to customize with various parts to create an entire fleet of ships to meet your enemies or defend and support allies. The sizes of ships will vary depending on your choice from an assortment of hull styles and sizes allowing for more capacity for different components.
These components can provide different functions like defense, offense,
support, speed, etc. You are able to equip your ships with any mixture
of these components to have your ship fit the role you want it to. Keep
trying different possibilities and mix your fleet to your best fit.
Player-based research will unlock new features
and equipment for your ships to allow the player to diversify and expand
their tactics. Research, Develop, and Test through practice and live
engagements. Each ship will become feared by a fleet and a fleet shall
be feared by an empire.
Your Fleet
It is important to match your fleet's structure to your strategy: engineering bays will help repair your ships while cargo can carry more supplies allowing for prolonged battles and outlasting your enemies. Thus, as an example focusing on stronger units will allow your fleet to break through enemy strong points; while this fleet is powerful it will be less able to fight over longer periods of time. There are many possibilities to design a fleet to fit into different strategies and it will be necessary to meet the dynamically changing galaxy.
Your primary fleet is led by your capital ship which is able to activate tactical
abilities that will support the fleet; making it a key factor of your main
fleet. Take extra care of your capital ship as its roll and activities can
turn the tide of battle into your favour at the right opportunity. This is
important because every player has the same unit limit so engagements at all
levels require wise unit use and retention.
Do not underestimate the smaller empire's fleet, if they do their research and preparation they can turn the
battle around against the larger empires. Larger empires will gain more resources
and they must manage their limit of three fleets to grant a greater level of
coordination to counter attacks with a smaller force. Management of your fleets
is paramount to allow for flexible defense and offense to attack and defend
yourself. Other players will want your wealth and your only saving force will
be your skill at structuring your fleet to bring the sector under your control.
Your Empire
Novus Aeterno will provide the player with the experience of building a long-term empire of their own within the single and expansive galaxy. Planets must be colonised to provide you with structures, resources, research, storage, production, and residential districts. Holding a planet and further investing into it will provide strong benefits in the long run for your empire, yet conquering a planet can be a challenge; especially against a skilled opponent. Ground infantry must be deployed onto the surface of a planet in order to acquire it while retaining your control over the space around the planet This can be done quickly if your opponent is taken off guard or overpowered by brute force.
Larger empires are much harder to maintain alone, when your empire is getting too large to easily defend it is a good time to consider forming an Alliance with one or more other player empires. Improved defense along with a bustling traders' hub will allow your empire to gain even more freedom to expand and pursue new trade alliances.
Or become a growing force whose boarders appear like a growing red mass on their enemies' map, consuming all in its path!
The galaxy was once home to five great empires that ruled and competed with each other, their remains are still present. Explore them to find valuable resources and artefacts or a remnant faction that may prove to be hostile or a possible Allie. Take the time to explore and you may find yourself something lost by your fore fathers that will give you an advantage for the galactic instability ahead.
Alliances
Players should consider forming an Alliance soon in order to support each other in order to achieve galactic conquest, craft wealthy trade empires, or even to search out players with high bounties to test their skills in quick and unexpected assaults to gain bounty wealth.
Alliances can set out to achieve Alliance Projects that improve the wealth, power, and communication between the Alliance members. Each Alliance will have a maximum of 15 members allowing for a total of 45 fleets under the Alliance.
Each member of an Alliance will need to be able to cooperate with each other to provide aid in defense and to strengthen the Alliance’s attacks. Holding large amounts of territory will be very difficult when the player’s Alliance does little to help its members out.
Share your own knowledge with your comrades and help them when they are in trouble; you will find that they will help you in return to provide for some involving moments where you and your Allies stick together against dire odds!
Capital Ships
Novus Aeterno features unique Capital Ship vessels. Only one Capital Ship can be deployed at one time, but its abilities are extremely useful for the fleet it is with. The Capital Ship fits itself into your fleet by meeting a specialized role and can greatly support a variety of tactics. Some of these ships may be capable of holding their own against other ships while other Capital Ships require more care to keep from the front lines.
Players build these ships with in game resources or build with points purchased with money if they have that ship unlocked. All Capital ships will go through a free rotation period and be useable if the ship had not been unlocked.
The rotation will continue infinatly. The player can change Capital Ships by docking one into their home world and deploying another Capital Ship that had been constructed.
Challenges
Players can enter challenges, which are like duels with other players or alliances. Players can do 1 versus 1 and team battles that can vary from 2v2, 3v3, 5v5, etc.
Team battles end when one side loses their HQ structure while other forms of challenges can end when one side loses all of their ships.
Challenges take place on a seperate map and losses do not affect the player's empire. Challenges are a great way to test out combat and new tactics without much risk.
Command Points
Novus Aeterno contains a balance and capacity system based on the amount of value a player's fleet has.
All players have the same capacity for value that will not change even when aquiring more planets.
Value is measured in Comand Points (CP); CP is part of every ship hull and component that can be attached to the hull.
The total CP of the ship will fill up the player's CP capacity.
Through this system layers must decide what type of fleet structure is best for them.
High CP value ships will take up more capacity allowing the player to field fewer ships; in contrast, low CP value ships can be produced in larger numbers.
Thus, the relationship of the number of ships to their average value per ship is a negative slope; there must be fewer ships to increase the average value per ship.
Logistics
Novus Aeterno includes a logistical system where ships consume supplies through magazine reloads, repairs, activated abilities, and shields. Ships can naturally hold their own supplies and be restocked at player controlled planets; however, it is important to manage your fleet's supply stores to prevent ships from running out of ammunition to fight and shielding to defend.
Maintaining a fleet far away from a player's controlled planet is possible through transporting supplies from a planet to the ships in need of supplies. Ships can be designed to carry additional supplies allowing them to escort fleets to prolong their combat activity or to ferry supplies from a planet to the distant fleet.
When a ship reloads their weapon it must take supplies from storage to refill its magazine. Missiles fire their entire magazine in one shot and have long reloads. Cannons consume portions of their magazine every attack and must reload when depleted. Beams do not require a reload time to refill their magazine but they do consume more supplies per shot than cannons.
